Raising a seed round 101
1. How much should you raise?
A simple formula is to aim for a 24- to 36-month runway, building in a 25% buffer. Why 24 to 36 months? Generally, this is the right amount of time because it tends to be about how long it takes to hit product-market fit… x.com/i/web/status/1…

Our first post in our first newsletter - we had to make sure it had a TON of value. This breaks down so much in knowing what to raise.
The comment section is gold too.

Your pitch deck should contain enough info to get the VCs curious, but not enough that they switch to "analysis" mode.
Otherwise, they will find objections and you won't get a call.
A deck is a MARKETING MATERIAL, not a business plan.

Love the advice on not making a pitch deck too thorough. Keep the VCs curious, but don’t give away the farm.

This whole thread has multiple rabbit holes you can go down depending on what you’re wanting to explore.
Threadception.

If you’re a solo founder the good news is that you don't need to beat your competitors to succeed but just capture a really small slice of the market.

I feel like we as Founders want to dominate an entire market and get overwhelmed. We just need a tiny slice to succeed. This mindset makes it way less stressful.

Something is happening in pre-seed / seed that I think needs to be amplified more.
The gap between pre-seed and seed is getting large.

Banger of a thread by Elizabeth Yin. Definitely worth a follow.
TLDR is seed rounds not in a popular space and with little traction are not getting done.
